The annual ceremony celebrates students who demonstrated excellence in academics, leadership, athletics, and campus involvement across a wide range of 17c起草视频 programs. Awards were presented by faculty, staff, and athletic leadership in recognition of achievement inside and outside the classroom.

Opening remarks were delivered by 17c起草视频 President Dr. David Potash and Vice President for Academic & Student Affairs Dr. Carissa Massey.

Elizabeth Green received the Chancellor鈥檚 Award for Student Excellence, the highest student recognition presented within the State University of New York system. Ms. Green plans to transfer and she hopes to become a history teacher.

Academic awards were presented across 17c起草视频鈥檚 Health Sciences, Science, Technology & Math, Catskill Hospitality Institute, and Liberal Arts programs. Honorees represented many disciplines, including nursing, respiratory care, culinary arts, business, criminal justice, psychology, computer graphics, and green building technology.

Student athletes were celebrated. Members of the 17c起草视频 men鈥檚 basketball program were honored for athletic performance, leadership, sportsmanship, and conference achievements. Award recipients included Tomas Hernandez, Jamie Reich, Quentin Richardson, and Sincere Henderson.

17c起草视频 is excited to announce its annual Boys and Girls Basketball Camp, designed to help young athletes ages 7-17 develop fundamental skills and a comprehensive understanding of the game. The camp will run from Aug. 11 to Aug. 15 at the 17c起草视频 campus in Loch Sheldrake.

The Sullivan Generals Basketball Camp is rooted in a philosophy of skill development, offering individualized instruction, drills, lectures, and games to improve each camper’s abilities. The Generals coaching staff, along with some of the area’s top coaches and players, will cover essential fundamentals such as passing, dribbling, and shooting, as well as offensive and defensive strategies for both individual play and team dynamics. 

“Our goal is to create an exciting and enriching learning experience for every participant,” said 17c起草视频 Director of Athletics Simon Clement. “We’re dedicated to fostering a love for the game while building strong foundational skills that will benefit these young athletes in the future.鈥

The camp runs Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; early drop-off at 8:30 a.m. and late pick-up until 4 p.m. are available. Friday’s session concludes at 12 p.m. The camp fee is $200 per camper. A discounted rate of $175 is available for registrations received by Aug. 4, 2025. Additional discounts are offered for 17c起草视频 employees, multiple children from the same family, and groups. A limit of one discount per family applies.

Campers are responsible for bringing their own lunches and drinks, though packaged snacks will be available for purchase. All campers must be covered by health insurance, and a signed parental consent form for emergency treatment is required.

The National Junior College Athletics Association (NJCAA) has awarded a $2,000 NJCAA Opportunity Grant to 17c起草视频鈥檚 athletics program. This competitive grant will directly support the development of the College鈥檚 Men鈥檚 and Women鈥檚 Soccer programs beginning in Fall of 2025, helping to expand athletic offerings and increase student participation in collegiate sports. 

The NJCAA Opportunity Grant aims to enhance equity and access in two-year college athletics by providing financial support to programs that are building or expanding sports opportunities for student-athletes. Its initiatives include funding scholarships, supporting program development, and promoting equity and access in collegiate athletics. The grant will assist 17c起草视频 with essential resources needed to launch and sustain the soccer teams.

Previously serving as the Interim Head Men’s Basketball Coach, Clement has played a crucial role in shaping the college鈥檚 athletic programs. In his new position, he will lead efforts to expand and enhance the overall sports experience at 17c起草视频.

As Interim Director of Athletics, Clement will oversee a diverse range of sports offerings aimed at fostering student success both on and off the field. 17c起草视频鈥檚 athletics program features competitive teams in basketball, baseball, volleyball, cross-country, track and field, and Esports. The college competes in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 basketball and baseball, and NJCAA Division III men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 cross-country and track and field.

17c起草视频 also offers various intramural sports that provide students with opportunities to engage in recreational athletic activities. These programs are designed for those who want to participate in sports in a more relaxed and social environment compared to varsity-level competition. The Paul Gerry Fieldhouse serves as the heart of athletic activity on campus. The 30,000 square foot facility serves as the center for campus athletic activity and features a comprehensive fitness center, a cardio room, an indoor running track, and courts for basketball, volleyball, tennis, badminton, and racquetball. The Fieldhouse is connected to the college鈥檚 geothermal heating and cooling system, making it the largest air-conditioned facility in the area. In addition to hosting college sports, the Paul Gerry Fieldhouse is a popular venue for community events and gatherings.

About Simon Clement

Simon Clement was named Head Coach for the NJCAA Division II Sullivan Generals Men鈥檚 Basketball team in 2023, after five years as an assistant coach. Clement was a part of four consecutive Region XV Championships; two District Championships; and earned two bids to the NJCAA DII National Tournament (4th place finish in 2021-22).

Clement was previously at the New Hampton Prep School, a boarding prep school in New Hampton, NH, where he was a member of the math faculty, and Assistant Coach for the Men’s Basketball Program.  While at  New Hampton Prep Clement was a part of two successful seasons and helped move 20 student-athletes on to play basketball at the collegiate level; 15 to the Division I level.

Prior to New Hampton Prep Clement was the Director of Basketball Operations for the University at Albany. During his time at Albany, the Great Danes won two America East Championships and earned four post season bids; two to the NCAA Tournament. Over his five years at Albany, numerous student-athletes earned All-Academic Accolades, All-Conference Honors, and multiple earned contracts to play basketball professionally. Simon also taught in Albany鈥檚 MBA program.

Clement earned his B.A. from Johnson State College and his M.B.A. from University at Albany. He played collegiate basketball at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, New York, and at Johnson State College in Johnson, Vermont. He also played a year of collegiate golf while at Johnson State.

17c起草视频 Dean of Student Development Services and Director of Athletics Christopher DePew has announced that Simon Clement, long time Generals Assistant Coach, has been named 17c起草视频鈥檚 Interim Head Men鈥檚 Basketball Coach for the 2023-24 season.

鈥淐oach Clement has been our top assistant since our transition to the NJCAA DII scholarship level in 2018 and brings wealth of knowledge to the position,鈥 said DePew. 鈥淣ot only does he have experience here at Sullivan with our longstanding tradition of excellence, he also brings NCAA DI experience from his time as the Director of Basketball Operations at the University at Albany where he worked under legendary UAlbany Head Coach Will Brown, who also started his Head Coaching career here at 17c起草视频.鈥

The Men鈥檚 Generals Basketball team has won the last five NJCAA Region XV DII Titles, including two East District Championships and an appearance in the 2022 NJCAA National DII Final Four. 

鈥淥ur continued success both on the court and in the classroom has helped us move more than 100 student/athletes over the years to NCAA and NAIA scholarship opportunities, said DePew. 鈥淚 have every confidence that Coach Clement will continue this longstanding tradition and guide our program to yet another unforgettable season.鈥

Clement, who is also an assistant business professor at the Catskill Hospitality Institute at 17c起草视频, has coached and worked in Athletics for over a decade. He played collegiate basketball at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, NY, for one season and at Johnson State College in Johnson, VT, for two seasons. Clement earned his BA from Johnson State College and his MBA from SUNY Albany.

Clement succeeds former Head Coach/Assistant Athletic Director Brent Wilson, who recently accepted the Director of Athletics position at Hostos Community College in the Bronx, NY.

The 17c起草视频 Generals Boys and Girls Summer Baseball Camp is accepting applications for its 2023 summer camp, which open to boys and girls ages 7鈥17 and takes place August 14鈥18 on the 17c起草视频 campus.

Committed to a philosophy of developing fundamental skills and a broad understanding of the game, the camp works to improve skills through individual instruction, drills, lectures and games. The Generals Baseball camp is run by the 2023 Region 15 Champions coaching staff. Former and future players will serve as camp counselors. Several 17c起草视频 Youth Baseball Camp 鈥渁lumni鈥 have gone on to very successful high school and college baseball careers.

The camp鈥檚 goal is to lead campers to develop their own basic skills.  The Generals staff will cover fundamentals of hitting, fielding ground balls, catching fly balls, and base running. At the completion of camp, participants will receive a detailed evaluation of their progress along with specific drills to improve their own skill development. Every camper will go home with valuable baseball knowledge and countless memories of good times and warm friendships.

The Generals baseball camp is open to boys and girls ages 7鈥17. It takes place August 14鈥18 on the 17c起草视频 campus, 112 College Road, Loch Sheldrake, NY 12759. 17c起草视频 Men鈥檚 Baseball Team are the 2023 NJCAA Region XV D2 Champions thanks to two thrilling come-from-behind wins last weekend. The Generals head to Scranton, PA, this weekend to compete in the Northeast District Championship Tournament, the winner of which will advance to the 2023 NJCAA College Baseball World Series in Enid, Oklahoma.

The Generals defeated Westchester Community College 8-4 Friday night, followed by a 7-5 win over Rockland Community College on Saturday to earn the team鈥檚 third regional championship in school history and the first since 2011. After celebrating on the field in Suffern, the Generals took their trophy back to the Paul Gerry Fieldhouse, where the team and family members celebrated the graduation of four teammates who had missed the College鈥檚 commencement earlier in the day.

鈥淚t was a great day,鈥 said 17c起草视频 Director of Athletics & Recreation and Dean of Student Development Services Chris DePew, who called it a 鈥渟pecial doubleheader–win a regional baseball championship in the morning and graduate just a few hours later.鈥

The Generals improve to 21-17 on the season and will play Delaware Tech Friday, May 19, at 11 am in the East District Championship next weekend in Scranton. The winner of that game will play the winner of Lackawanna College (PA) vs. UConn-Avery Point (CT) for a trip to the 2023 NJCAA College Baseball World Series. This will be the fourth trip to the district tournament in the history of the College.

鈥淭he team worked hard to make it to the region championship, and we were thrilled to win all three tournament games to earn the title of Region XV Champions,鈥 said Head Coach Randy Delanoy. 鈥淭he guys came together to pull off three consecutive wins against two higher-seeded teams. We are looking forward to the district tournament this weekend.鈥

鈥淚 am extremely proud of this group,鈥 said DePew. 鈥淭he way they support each other and pick each other up is something special. They deserve this opportunity, and I鈥檓 extremely happy for all of them. Their accomplishments this season have made us proud.鈥

Men鈥檚 and Women鈥檚 Basketball Teams to Compete in聽NJCAA DII East District Championships March 4 at Home /2023/03/mens-and-womens-basketball-teams-to-compete-in-njcaa-dii-east-district-championships-march-4-at-home/ Wed, 01 Mar 2023 20:37:53 +0000 /?p=15173 Loch Sheldrake, NY 鈥 After winning the NJCAA Region XV Championships last weekend, 17c起草视频鈥檚 Men鈥檚 and Women鈥檚 basketball teams will compete for the NJCAA Region 15 DII East District Championships this Saturday, March 4, at home in the Paul Gerry Fieldhouse. The Women鈥檚 Generals take on Region 3 champions Niagara Community College in game three at 4:30 pm. The Men鈥檚 Generals tip off against Region 3 champions Niagara in game four at 6:30 pm. Admissions for the games is $5, free for those with 17c起草视频 ID.

In game one, Region 19 women鈥檚 basketball champions Harcum College takes on Region 15 runner up Westchester Community College at 12 pm. Game two, at 2 pm, features Region 15 runner up SUNY Orange against Region 19 champions Raritan Valley Community College. The winner of each game will qualify for the NJCAA National Championship.

We are extremely proud of our Generals and wish them the best this weekend!鈥

The 22-7 Men鈥檚 Generals earned their fourth straight Region 15 championship Sunday, February 26, by upsetting undefeated SUNY Orange 73-70 at SUNY Orange. The win moves them up to number 10 in this week鈥檚 DII national rankings.

鈥淚 am really excited for this team. We have faced some adversity this season but have stayed the course and ultimately it led to another Championship,鈥 said Men鈥檚 Head Coach Brent Wilson. 鈥淔or us to go on the road and beat an Orange team that was 28-0 really shows a lot about the resiliency of this team. This is our 4th Region XV Championship in a row since transitioning to the NJCAA DII level, and I am thrilled for this group to be in the same conversation as our previous teams.鈥

The Women鈥檚 Generals earned their second consecutive Region 15 Championship Sunday by beating Westchester Community College 65-28, improving their record to 19-9 on the year.

鈥淲e are playing our best basketball at the right time,鈥 said Women鈥檚 Head Coach Ben Newberg. 鈥淲e’ve won seven in a row capped off by Sunday鈥檚 Region XV Championship. Our sophomores know that their basketball careers at 17c起草视频 are coming to an end and they want to finish out the right way with a trip to the National Tournament. Our game on Saturday will be a familiar opponent, and we look forward to defending our homecourt!鈥

Among highlights for both Generals teams this season: Men鈥檚 players Jay Alvarez and Jair Currie, were named to the All-Region XV DII First Team, Kipplyn Richvine earned All-Region XV DII Second-Team honors, and Jalen Minto All-Region XV DII sportsmanship accolades. In February, Alvarez became the became the 8th player in Generals program history to reach the 1,000-point plateau. On the women鈥檚 side, Deivejon Harris was selected as the Region XV Player of the Year for the second year in a row. Harris, Barbara Bruno, and Brieanna Maple were selected to the NJCAA Region XV 1st Team All-Region, and Rosselys Bare earned the NJCAA Region XV sportsmanship award.

It is the first number one national ranking for the Generals since joining Division II in 2018.

鈥淚t鈥檚 an amazing accomplishment and just one step closer to the goals that we set the day we went to division two in the fall of 2018,鈥 said 17c起草视频 Director of Athletics & Recreation and Dean of Student Development Services Chris DePew.

The Generals, off to an 8-0 start this year, have been led by sophomore guard Jay Alvarez, who is averaging 26.1 points per game and earned Mid-Hudson Conference Athlete of the Week honors in November. The #1-ranked Generals will take on #7-ranked SUNY Orange Tuesday night at 7 pm in the Paul Gerry Fieldhouse on the 17c起草视频 campus.

Tuesday night鈥檚 battle between two local nationally ranked teams helps kickoff 17c起草视频鈥檚 2022 Holiday Toy and Food Drive. The 鈥淎 Night of Giving鈥 event also includes a 5 pm matchup between Fallsburg and Monticello high school boys varsity basketball teams.

鈥淭his will be a fun evening celebrating the Generals #1 ranking and a great opportunity to support our students with young families,鈥 said DePew.

Anyone who donates a new unwrapped today and/or a non-perishable food item will receive a ticket to the halftime raffle. Each person will receive one ticket per item.
