The 17c起草视频 Admissions Office evaluates overall college GPA, science specific GPA, placement exam scores, and may request an interview with applicants.

The Nursing program is designed to be completed in four sequential full-time semesters. Students who have already completed all pre-requisite requirements should be able to complete their studies on time in two academic years. Those who need pre-requisite courses may take approximately 6 semesters or more. Some students, because of the intense nature of the program, may find part-time study more appropriate.

• No nursing courses may be transferred in from another college.
• Students may transfer pre-requisite and general education courses from another college.
• Science credits earned more than 7 years prior to the start of the student鈥檚 first nursing semester will need to be evaluated by the science faculty for learning outcomes retention. Science credits which are more than 7 years old cannot be accepted within the Nursing program. These classes will have to be repeated.

LPN to RN Admissions Requirements:

• College GPA is 2.5+
• Successfully pass the required skills test
• Hold a current, valid LPN license
• Earned a "C" or higher in the following courses:
  • General Psychology
  • Principles of Biology (This requirement may be reviewed for transfer students)
  • Anatomy & Physiology I & lab

Readmission Policy

The readmission process deadline is November 1st for the spring semester and March 1st for the fall semester. Readmission into the Nursing program requires approval of the Director of Nursing Program and is on a space-available basis.

Steps:

• Submit a request for readmissions in writing to the Director of Nursing Program. The letter should address factors that will enhance success when repeating a course;
• Complete and submit an application for readmission to the college, if necessary. If a student did not remain enrolled in 17c起草视频 after the failed class, the student must re-apply and be accepted to 17c起草视频 prior to the application deadline.
• Indicate the course for which readmission is sought.

In addition to the above, students who have been out of the program 12 months or more must also:

• Satisfactorily complete the nursing skills competency for the last nursing course successfully completed
• Complete clinical calculations competency with 90% mastery
• Achieve a grade of 80% or better on a faculty-prepared cumulative written examination for the last Nursing
  course successfully completed.

A student may generally repeat only one nursing course one time throughout the entire duration of the program. For that reason, a student may reapply to the program only once without the permission of the Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs.

Lab Failure聽

• The student will need to remediate all skills taught in that semester.
• In order to have the remediation the student will make the appropriate appointments with the Instructional Assistant (IA). All appointments must be kept unless the college is closed, for a religious holiday, or a verifiable emergency.听
• After all remediation is completed, the student will complete a competency which will include all skills in a simulation on a mannequin.
• The IA will grade the simulation P/F.听
• If the student successfully completes the competency the student will write a letter requesting re-admission to the program with rationale.听
• If the student fails the competency the student will not be re-admitted to the program.听

Clinical Failure聽

• If a student fails clinical due to patient safety the student cannot be readmitted to the Nursing program.听
• If a student fails clinical due to excessive absence the student must write a letter to request re-admission with rationale.
• If a student fails clinical due to poor clinical performance the student will receive a remediation plan from the clinical faculty.听
• The clinical faculty will send the remediation plan to the Lab I.A. and the clinical faculty will have a conference with the I.A. to give specific information regarding deficiencies.听
• The student will be required to remediate with the IA in the lab and then complete simulations in the lab showing how each of the deficiencies noted in the remediation plan have been eliminated. The IA will grade the simulation P/F.听
• If the student successfully completes the competency the student will write a letter requesting re-admission to the program with rationale.听
• If the student fails the competency the student will not be re-admitted to the program.听
• The New York State Board of Professions issues the license for the Registered Nurse.
• One of the requirements to obtain a license is鈥� good moral character鈥� ().

Applicable to All Re-Admissions Due to Failure

If a student is found to exhibit behaviors that are outside of the nursing code of ethics, the student will not be permitted to continue in the program:

Repeating students register on a space-available basis. Students will be informed of the date and time to register upon submission of the application. Students who request to repeat NUR 1010 and/or NUR 2020 will be seated on a competitive, space-available basis.

Students not seated for two consecutive semesters must reapply to the Nursing Program.听
